10 September 2016 | Japan, Osaka
After the Pokémon Center I decided to go to the Osaka Science Museum. It reminded my a little bit of NEMO, in The Netherlands. There were a lot of school children there as well, bouncing around full of energy! Once more I was asked to start at the highest floor, in this case the 4th. That was also my favorite floor, because there was something there I'm pretty sure nobody present there at the time but me could read ^^ And although there were a few plaques that explained things in English, most was of course in Japanese. That evening I went to the ramen shop one last time, to try my 4th different bowl. This one too, was very tasty :)
On Friday morning I got up and showered at 6. Around 06:30 I had a subway towards Osaka JR (Japan Railway) Station and around 07:00 I had a train to Sumiyoshi. There I had to transfer to another line, so that I could get to the Kobe Bay Sheraton Hotel. This is where, at 9 o'clock I would be taking my final language test. I arrived at the reception together with Marcus, from the US. We were both guided to the 4th floor, where a number of people from the university were surprised we got there so early :P Soon a few more people joined us, and we decided to play a card game as we waited. Eventually the time was there; we were ushered into a large room with lots of tables and chairs. Each table had a name and student ID card on it. I think the test went fairly well, but I won't know untill Monday I think. After the test there was a really nice lunch! Followed by about 3 hours of welcoming and information. Once that was over, we finally got to our transport to get to our dorms (those who would stay with a Japanese family would be picked up at the hotel). In my case, that mode of transportation was a JAMBO taxi (somewhere in between a VW Transporter and a VW Crafter, in size). Apparently Residence 2 is very hard to reach by car, because even with a navigation system our driver got lost. Somebody in our group had scouted the area beforehand though, so eventually we got off the taxi and walked the last part. This too took a while, as we could only find the backside of the building, which did not provide access to the terrain. We ende up asking a local how to get there, who was friendly enough to walk us there. That night we got dinner at a "conbini" (convenience store). I will soon make a video of my room, so you can see how I will be living for the next 5 months :)
Today I did a lot of shopping. Partly for food, but mostly for necessities. Loundry lines, loundry pinnes, scissors, toilet paper, towels, that sort of thing. I accompanied Sarah and Zack on this shopping spree. Later I cooked dinner (udon noodles with veggies and pork for me) at the same time Sarah did. And Zack was so kind that he lend me a manga book in Japanese! Looking forward to reading that ^^
Well, that's all for now I believe. Goodbye!
