I'm really sorry for not writing for so long! First I was just busy, but then last Tuesday my laptop gave out on me too! Using a school computer now, but it is far from ideal...
Anyway, let's start with last Friday. Some of you might have heard it on the news, but last Friday there was a 6.6 earthquake in the Kansai erea. At school it was only 3.0, so nothing more than slightly shaking desks for a few seconds. 5 Seconds before the earthquake however, everybodies phone went off with a warning! This scared me more than the quake itself XD That same Friday I also had my first Halloween party! Unfortunately I'd had no time to get a costume, but it turned out most people didn't wear one, so it was fine. The karaoke at the party wasn't half bad, and the drinks were good too! But the food was dissapointing :( For 1500 yen I expected more than a few sandwhiches and pieces of deepfried chicken. But anyway, I had a nice time :)
Then Saturday was a great day! Because on Saturday I went to Sengari Camp with school! Picture, if you will, you are in the mountains, in a forrest, surrounded by log cabins and beautiful nature! It took about 1,5 hours by bus to get there. We went with only one bus, so I think we were about 35-40 people? The first thing we did was make Japanese curry rice in four teams (made it easier to cook XD) of about 8 people. We used half a drum barrel as our stove, using twigs and leaves and logs and whatnot to get the fire started and keep it going. Then first the meat was prepared, next the carrots, potatoes and onions were added with water to boil and finally the curry sauce was added. It tasted delicious! After lunch we played 3 games on the camp grounds. The 1st was to gather branches and stones, in order to make tall structures. The 2nd was a game of tag where you had to steal other people's tails. And the 3rd was a treasure hunt. My team eventually ended in 2nd place and we got some nice chocolate for our efforts! :D
Sunday was for laundry and catching up on homework. Monday was just a normal day. But Tuesday evening some people from my dorm were invited by our dorm manager to drink a new beer with him that was launched that day! It tasted pretty good, there were some Japanese snacks like soy beans, dried squid and different kinds of nuts, plus I got to meet some people from the dorm I hadn't met before!
Then Wednessday, yesterday, was also kind of special. Because yesterday we had our first "Coffe Hour"! This is where Japanese students, exchange students and staff members come together to enjoy drinks, snack and games! There were a lot more people there than I expected! Unfortunately I had to cut my stay short :( Because I needed to go to Kobe. There I had an appointment to join a Japanese language practice group! I got invited there by somebody I met at the futsal event. It is something they do every Monday and Wednessday. Of course, on Monday I have aikido training, but I'll be going on Wednessday every now and then from now on :) Basically that evenign I was surrounded by 4 Japanese people who bombarded me with questions XD I got back at them though, because when they ran out of questions they asked if I had any :P Let's just say for now that I made them sweat a little ^^
Well, that's it for today! Hope to keep you up to date again soon! Byebye :)
